ニュージーランドの南島に分布しています。標高６００〜１４００メートルの岩礫地や草地などに生え、高さは３０〜６０センチになります。頑丈な植物で、剣形の葉は革質で厚く、表面は灰白色または灰緑色です。裏面には白毛が密生しています。１２月から２月ごろ、５０センチほどの花茎を伸ばして、白い頭花を咲かせます。

キク科ケルミシア属の多年草で、学名は Celmisia semicordata。英名は Mountain daisy、Cotton plant、Tikumu。

The Mountain daisy (Celmisia semicordata) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in the South Island of New Zealand. It grows in rocky gravels and grasslands at elevations of 600 to 1400 m and is 30-60 cm tall. It is a sturdy plant with sword-shaped leaves that are leathery and thick, with grayish-white or gray-green surfaces. From December to February, the plant produces white flower heads on 50 cm flower stalks.
