Cheiridopsis caroli-schmidtii belongs to Aizoaceae (the Ice plant family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to Namibia and northern South Africa. This herb grows on granite, quartz rocks and screes, and can reach 5-10 cm in height. The leaves are thick, fleshy, silvery green and arranged in opposite. They are three-angled with conspicuous transparent dots. The bright yellow, daisy-like flower blooms from early winter to spring.
