The Chirita fimbrisepala belongs to Gesneriaceae (the African violet family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in southeastern China. It grows on rocky areas, cliffs, and along mountain streams in forests at elevations of 400 to 1000 m. The leaves are petiolate, ovate to round, and basal. It produces pale blue, purple, or pinkish green flowers on flower stalks from March to April. The Chinese name is "螞l蝗七" (ma huang qi). In Japan, it is distributed under such names as "武漢大輪岩桐草" (Bukan-tairin-iwagiri-so).
