東南アジアのタイに分布しています。有茎種で雨林の林内に生え、岩上などに着生します。葉は大きな卵状長楕円形で、長さ２５センチ以上あり、ビロード状の軟毛に被われます。夏から秋にかけて、鮮やかな橙黄色の花を咲かせます。花冠の咽部にはえび茶色の斑点があります。果実は長いバナナ形の蒴果で、このことから「リトルバナナ」と呼ばれることがあります。

イワタバコ科キリタ属の多年草で、学名は Chirita micromusa。英名はありません。

The Chirita micromusa belongs to Gesneriaceae (the African violet family). It is a perennial herbacious plant that is distributed in Thailand. This is a caulescent epiphyte that grows on rocks in rainforests. Leaves are large up to 25 cm long, ovate-oblong with soft velvety hairs. From summer to fall, bright orange-yellow flowers with maroon spots in the throat are seen. This plant is sometimes called 'Little banana' because of its long banana-shaped seed pods.
