オーストラリアの南西部に分布しています。乾燥した気候に生え、高さは５０センチほどになります。葉は、長く伸びた心形で互生します。冬の終わりから春にかけて、鮮やかな赤色とオレンジ色の蝶形花を咲かせます。ふつう旗弁がオレンジ色、翼弁と竜骨弁は赤色です。

マメ科コリゼマ属の落葉小低木で、学名は Chorizema cordatum。英名は Heart-leaf flame pea。

The heart-leaf flame pea (Chorizema cordatum) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is a deciduous shrub that is native to south-western Australia. This shrub grows in drier climates and can reach about 50 cm in height. The leaves are elongated, heart-shaped and alternate. The flowers are bright red and orange, pea-shaped and bloom in late winter and spring. Usually the flag petals are orange, and the wing and keel petals are red.
