The Sage-leaved rockrose (Cistus salviifolius) belongs to Cistaceae (the Rockrose family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to the Mediterranean region, in southern Europe and parts of Western Asia and North Africa. This shrub grows in dry hills, scrubs and open woodlands, and it can reach 30-100 cm in height. The leaves are ovate, green, reticulate, tomentose, with short petioles. The white five-petaled flowers with yellow spot at the bases bloom from April through May. The stamens are also yellow and the anthers shed abundant yellow pollen. The fruits are pentagonal capsules.
