中国の中西部が原産です。林縁や川沿いに生え、蔓性で長さは５〜６メートルになります。近くにある潅木や樹木をよじ登ります。葉は３出複葉で、小葉は狭披針形で革質です。冬の終わりから早春ごろ、白色から枝先に円錐花序をだし、淡いピンク色の花を咲かせます。花には４〜５個の萼片があり、芳香を漂わせます。写真は園芸品種の「アップルブロッサム（cv. Apple Blossom）」。

キンポウゲ科センニンソウ属の常緑蔓性木本で、学名は Clematis armandii。英名は Armand's clematis。

The Armand's clematis belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is an evergreen woody vine that is native to central-southern China. This vine grows in forest margines and along streams and can reach 5-6 m long. It climbs up adjacent shrubs and trees. The leaves are 3-lobed compound, the leaflets are narrow lanceolate and leathery. The white to pale pink are borne in panicles at the end of branches in late winter to early spring. The flower has 4-5 sepals and fragrant breath. The photos are a cultivar 'Apple Blossom'.
