アフリカのウガンダから旧ローデシアにかけて分布しています。霜の降りない地域に生えて、高さは３メートルほどになります。夏から秋にかけて、枝先に集散花序をつけ、チョウチョウに似た花を横向きに咲かせます。５個の花弁のうち、４個は空色、１個は濃い青紫色です。 |

クマツヅラ科クサギ属の常緑低木で、学名は Clerodendrum ugandense。英名は Blue butterfly flower、Glory bower。 |

The Blue butterfly flower (Clerodendrum ugandense) belongs to Verbenaceae (thr Verbena family). It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed from Uganda to former Rhodesia in Africa. It grows in frost-free areas and can reach a height of up to 3 m. From summer to fall, the flowers, which resemble butterflies, are produced laterally in cymes at the ends of branches. It has five petals, four are sky-blue and one is dark blue-purple. |
