アルゼンチンからウルグアイに分布しています。柱の大きな塊をつくり、高さは９０センチ以上、直径は６センチほどになります。このサボテンは多くの短い金色の棘があり、文字通り茎の表面を被っています。春から夏にかけて、サーモンピンクの花をいっぱい咲かせます。

サボテン科クレイストカクツス属の柱サボテンで、学名は Cleistocactus winteri。英名は Golden rat tail。

The golden rat tail (Cleistocactus winteri) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is a columnar cactus that is native from Argentina to Uruguay. This cactus forms masses of columns, and it can reach up to 90 cm in height, about 6 cm in diameter. It has many short bristly golden spines that literally cover the surface of the stems. The abundant salmon-pink flowers bloom in spring and summer.
