アメリカのコロラド州からワイオミング州に分布しています。ロッキー山脈に生え、高さは１５〜２３センチになります。樹冠は円筒形から円錐形で、樹皮は鱗状で灰色です。葉はろう質の灰緑色で針状、放射状につきます。球果は淡い褐色で、１０センチ以上になります。コロラド州の州木です。

マツ科トウヒ属の常緑高木で、学名は Picea pungens。英名は Colorado blue spruce、Blue spruce。

The Colorado blue spruce (Picea pungens) belongs to Pinaceae (the Pine family). It is a tall evergreen tree that is native from Colorado to Wyoming in the United States. This tree grows in the Rocky Mountains and it can reach 15-23 m in height. The crown is columnar or conical and the bark is scaly gray. The leaves are waxy gray-green, needle-like, and arranged radially. The cones are pale brown, up to 10 cm long. This tree is the State Tree of Colorado.
