オーストラリアの東部、クイーンズランド州からニューサウスウェールズ州に分布しています。森や林の中に生え、茎は地面を這って長さが１〜２メートルになります。葉は披針形です。夏から初秋にかけて、明るい青色の花を咲かせます。英名（Scurvy weed）は、初期の入植者たちが壊血病の予防や症状の緩和に利用したことによります。

ツユクサ科ツユクサ属の蔓性多年草で、学名は Commelina cyanea。英名は Scurvy weed、Native wandering jew。

The Scurvy weed (Commelina cyanea) belongs to Commelinaceae (the Spiderwort family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in the eastern part of Australia, from Queensland to New South Wales. It grows in forests and woodlands, with stems creeping along the ground and reaching 1 to 2 m in length. The leaves are lanceolate. Bright blue flowers bloom from summer to early fall. The English name (Scurvy weed) comes from its use by early settlers to prevent or alleviate the symptoms of scurvy.
