The Combretum grandiflorum belongs to the Combretaceae family. It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed in western Africa, from Gambia to Guinea and Ghana. It is a vine that grows up to 6 m long, twining around other trees and plants. The leaves are dark green, oblong, and arranged in pairs like pinnate compound leaves. Inflorescences with long flower stalks emerge from the leaf axils at the top of the branches, producing bright vermilion-red flowers.
