地中海沿岸のアフリカ北部からヨーロッパ南部に分布しています。石灰岩の岩礫地に生え、地面を這って広がります。葉は卵形で、軟毛に被われています。夏から秋にかけて、淡紫色またはピンク色をした漏斗形の花を咲かせます。

ヒルガオ科セイヨウヒルガオ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Convolvulus sabatius。英名は Ground morning glory。

|
The ground morning glory belongs to Convolvulaceae (the Bindweed family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to the coastal areas of the Mediterranean Sea, northern Africa and southern Europe. This herb grows in calcareous rocky places and creeping on the ground. The leaves are ovate and covered with soft hairs. The funnel-shaped, pale purple to pink flowers come in summer through fall.
