ヨーロッパのアルプス、アペニン山脈、バルカン半島それにカルパチア山脈に分布しています。標高１０００〜２３００メートルの草地や茂みに生え、高さは３０〜５０センチになります。葉は偶数羽状複葉で、長楕円形から円形の小葉が２〜６対つきます。５月から７月ごろ、黄色い蝶形花を咲かせます。

マメ科コロニラ属の多年草で、学名は Coronilla vaginalis。英名は Small scorpion vetch。

The small scorpion vetch (Coronilla vaginalis) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Europe and distributed in the Alps, the Apennines, the Balkan Peninsula and the Carpathians. This herb grows in grasslands or thickets 1000-2300 m elevation and can reach 30-50 cm in height. The leaves are pari-pinnate compound with 2-6 pairs of oblong to orbiculate leaflets. The yellow papilionaceous flowers come in May to July.
