ショウガ科ホザキアヤメ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Costus malortieanus。英名は Spiral flag、Sprial ginger。 |

The Spiral flag (Costus malortieanus) belongs to Zingerberaceae (the Ginger family). It is an evergreen herb that is distributed in Central America. The leaves are dark green and soft, 35 cm long and 20 cm wide, with indistinct stripes on the surface. Yellow flowers with red stripes bloom at the end of the leaf-covered stems. |
