The Cross-leaved cotyledon (Cotyledon decussata) belongs to Crassulaceae (the Orpine family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed in southern Africa, from Angola to Namibia, South Africa, and Mozambique. It grows in sandy or stony soil in scrubby areas and grows to about 1 m tall. The leaves are elliptic to ovate and smooth. The flowers are orange to red and glossy, and the flower tubes are 8 to 30 mm long. In Japan, it is horticulturally known as "聖刀" (saint sword).
