The Late cotoneaster (Cotoneaster lacteus) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed in Guizhou Province, Sichuan Province, Yunnan Province, and Tibet in south-central China. It grows in grasslands and mixed forests along rivers at altitudes of 1800 to 2700 m, reaching a height of 1 to 3 m. The leaves are ovate to elliptic, thick and leathery, with entire margins. The fruit is ovate and ripens to red from September to October. These fruits are not eaten by birds and remain on the plant throughout the winter. In Chinese, it is called "厚葉栒子(" (hou ye xun zi).
