The Fairy crassula (Crassula multicava) belongs to Crassulaceae (the Orpine family). It is an evergreen herb that is distributed from KwaZulu-Natal to the Eastern Cape and Southern Cape provinces of South Africa. It grows on forest edges, river banks, and coastal thickets, and is about 30 cm tall. The leaves are elliptic to circular, glossy, and grow in pairs. The leaves have hydathodes (water-secreting pores), which serve to quickly absorb water from the leaf surface. In winter, white to pinkish star-shaped flowers bloom. The corolla consists of four petals and four sepals. It is an important garden plant in many countries.
