The string of buttons (Crassula perforata) belongs to Crassulaceae (the Orpine family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to South Africa (Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape). This herb grows in arid places and up to a height of 45 cm. The stem is erect, fleshy, later prostrate and woody. The leaves are short, broad ovate, opposite, gray-green and edged in pink color with small whitish or pink dots, up to 2 cm long. The flowers are very small, star-shaped, pale yellow in color and bloom in spring.
