「アフリカはまゆう（Crinum bulbispermum）」と「クリヌム・ムーレイ（Crinum moorei）」との交配による園芸品種です。これはイギリスで１９世紀に作出されました。高さは１．５メートルほどになります。葉は長い紐状で、茂みを作ります。花は、大きく芳香がありベル形、淡いピンク色で盛夏から晩夏に咲きます。写真は、白花品種の「アルバ（Alba）」。

ユリ科ハマオモト属の常緑多年草で、学名は Crinum x powellii。英名は Powell's lily、Cape lily。

The Powell's lily (Crinum x powellii) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is an evergreen herb that is a hybrid between "Orange river lily" (Crinum bulbispermum) and "Natal lily" (Crinum moorei). This hybrid was raised in Britain in the 19th century. This herb grows up to about 1.5 m tall. It's leaves are long strap-like and form a clump. The flowers are large, fragrant, bell-shaped, pale pink, and bloom mid summer to late summer.
