The Mojito mint (Mentha x villosa) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is a perennial herb that is native to temperate regions of Europe. It grows in pastures, grazing lands, and wastelands, reaching a height of 30 to 60 cm. It is a natural hybrid of spearmint and apple mint. The stems are smooth with a square cross-section. The leaves are round, densely covered with fine hairs, and have a noticeably rough surface. From June to July, it produces pale pink flowers in spikes at the stem tips. Its leaves offer a gentler, milder aroma than spearmint, combining sweetness and spiciness. It is used in mojito cocktails, herbal teas, salads, as a garnish in dishes, and in herbal baths.
