キリンドロプンティア・アカントカルパ [Index] [Back] アメリカのカリフォルニア州やネバダ州、ユタ州それにアリゾナ州に分布しています。砂漠に生え、高さは１．８メートルほどになります。茎は牡鹿の枝角のように分枝して、棘が多く、棘座にはふつう６〜２０個の棘があります。４月の終わりから５月にかけて、オレンジ色や赤色、黄色、ピンク色または黄緑色の花を咲かせます。果実はでこぼこが多く、棘の多い黄褐色の液果で、翌年の開花する前に、干からびて落ちてしまいます。 サボテン科キリンドロプンティア属のサボテンで、学名は Cylindropuntia acanthocarpa (syn. Opuntia acanthocarpa)。英名は Buckhorn cholla。 The buckhorn cholla (Cylindropuntia acanthocarpa) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is a cactus that is native to California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona in the United States. This cactus grows in desert and it can reach about 1.8 m in height. The stems are branched like a buck's antlers and are spiny with usually 6-20 spines per areole. The orange, red, yellow, pink or yellow-green flowers bloom in late April and May.
