南アフリカが原産です。キルタンツス属は南アフリカにおよそ５０種が分布しています。わが国でも、マッケニイ種が広く普及しています。高さは３０〜５０センチになり、長い花茎を伸ばして、散形花序に筒状花を咲かせます。冬から春にかけて開花し、オレンジや黄色、白色などがあります。

ユリ科キルタンツス属の半常緑多年草で、学名は Cyrtanthus mackenii。英名は Ifafa lily。

The Ifafa lily (Cyrtanthus mackenii) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a semi-evergreen perennial herb that is native to South Africa. About 50 species of the genus Cyrtanthus are distributed in South Africa. Cyrtanthus mackenii are also widespread in Japan. It can reach 30 to 50 cm in height and grow long flower stalks to bloom tubular flowers in umbels. It blooms from winter to spring and comes in orange, yellow and white.
