The Saw sedge (Gahnia grandis) belongs to Cyperaceae (the Sedge family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in southern Australia. It grows along forest edges, wetland margins, and cuttings, reaching heights of 1 to 3 m. The stems are thick, approximately 2 to 10 mm in diameter, and often creeping. Leaves are linear with sharply serrated margins and brown sheaths. From spring to summer, t produces a 50-100 cm long spike inflorescence at the stem apex, bearing cream-colored flowers.
