南アメリカのギアナやブラジルに分布しています。わが国の沖縄でも、家の垣根を彩っています。蔓性で、ほかの木などに巻きついてよじ登ります。葉は卵形で対生しますが、潰すと「にんにく」のような香りがあります。春と秋に、紫色の漏斗状の花を咲かせます。別名で「にんにくかずら（大蒜葛）」とも呼ばれます。

ノウゼンカズラ科プセウドカリンマ属の常緑低木で、学名は Pseudocalymma alliaceum。英名は Garlic vine。

The garlic vine (Pseudocalymma alliaceum) belongs to Bignoniaceae (the Trumpet creeper family). It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed in Guiana and Brazil in South America. Even in Okinawa, Japan, it colors the fence of the house. It is a vine and wraps around other trees and climbs. The leaves are ovate and opposite, but when crushed, they have a garlic-like scent. The purple funnel-shaped flowers come in spring and autumn.
