The Geissorhiza imbricata belongs to Iridaceae (the Iris family). It is a perennial herb that is bulbous plant is distributed in the Cape Province of South Africa. It grows in moist sandy mudflats, swamps, and near streams in winter rainfall areas, and grows 5 to 20 cm tall. It has linear to sword-shaped leaves, 5-15 cm long. It produces scapes from August to November with white, cream, or pale yellow flowers. The underside of the outer sepals is usually reddish.
