ヨーロッパの山地、アルプスやアペニン、ピレネー山脈などに分布しています。標高１２００〜３５００メートルの岩場の斜面に生え、高さは１５〜２０センチになります。ほふく茎は出しません。葉は奇数羽状複葉で、非常に大きい長楕円形の頂小葉があります。初夏に、直径２５〜４０ミリ、黄金色の花を咲かせます。花弁にはわずかに切れ込みがあります。

バラ科ダイコンソウ属の多年草で、学名は Geum montanum。英名は Alpine avens。

The alpine avens (Geum montanum) belong to Rosaceae (the Rose Family). It is a perennial herb that is native to European mountains; the Alps, the Apennines and the Pyrenees. This herb grows in rocky slopes 1200-3500 m elevation, and can reach 15-20 cm in height. It has no runners. The leaves are odd-pinnately compound with very large oblong terminal segments. The flowers are golden-yellow, 25-40mm in diameter, and bloom in early summer. The petals are often slightly notched.
