ヨーロッパのアルプスからバルカン半島、カルパチア山脈に分布しています。高山の砂礫地やモレーン（氷堆石）地帯に生え、高さは１０〜１５センチになります。根生葉は羽状で鋸歯があり、赤味を帯びたランナーを伸ばして広がります。７月から８月ごろ、鮮やかな黄色い花を咲かせます。

バラ科ダイコンソウ属の多年草で、学名は Geum reptans。英名は Creeping avens、Alpine avens。

The Creeping avens (Geum reptans) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from the European Alps to the Balkan Peninsula and the Carpathian Mountains. It grows in alpine sandy and gravelly areas and in moraines and grows 10-15 cm tall. The bright yellow flowers bloom from July to August.
