わが国の各地をはじめ、朝鮮半島に分布しています。山野や丘陵の林内に生え、高さは１０〜２５センチになります。葉は楕円形から卵状楕円形で、３〜６個が互生します。５月から６月ごろ、茎頂に穂状花序をつけ、小さな白色の花を咲かせます。花冠は半開します。

ラン科キンラン属の多年草で、学名は Cephalanthera erecta。英名はありません。

"Gin-ran" (Cephalanthera erecta) belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Japan and the Korean Peninsula. This herb grows in montane woodlands and can reach 10-25 cm in height. The leaves are elliptic to ovate-elliptic and 3-6 arranged in alternate. The spikes are borne on the stem apices and bloom small white flowers. The corolla is harf out.
