ブラジルが原産です。パボニア属（Pavonia）に近縁で、高さは１．８メートルほどになります。湿潤な日陰に生育しますが、花は枝に直接つき、その特異なかたちと紅色で目立ちます。赤い花弁のように見えるのは花苞です。名前は、ドイツの詩人であり植物学者であった「ゲーテ（Johann Wolfgang von Goethe）」に因んでいます。

アオイ科ゴエテア属の常緑小低木で、学名は Goethea strictiflora。英名はありません。

Goethea strictiflora belongs to the Malvaceae (the Mallow family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to Brazil. It is closely related to the Pavonia genus and its height is about 1.8 m. This shrub grows It grows in a humid shade places, the flowers attach directly to the branch, and which are noticeable by its peculiar form and rose-red color. The red flower bracts are petaloid. The name is derived from "Goethe (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe)", a German poet and a botanist.
