わが国の本州から四国・九州に分布しています。桿の直径は１センチ、高さは１〜３メートルになります。「めだけ（女竹）」に似ていますが、葉が上向きにつき、冬には落葉するのが特徴です。また節には長い毛があります。別名で「いよすだれ（伊予簾）」とも呼ばれます。写真の種名札は「けざやのごきだけ（毛鞘の銅器竹）」。

イネ科メダケ属のタケ類で、学名は Pleioblastus argenteostriatus f. pumilus。英名はありません。

The "Goki-dake" (Pleioblastus argenteostriatus f. pumilus) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is a bumboo that is distributed from Honshu to Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan. The diameter of the culm is 1 cm and the height is 1 to 3 m. It is similar to the "Medake", but its leaves are attached upward and fall off in winter. It also has long hairs on its joints. It is also called "伊予簾" (Iyo-sudare). The species name tag in the photo is "毛鞘の銅器竹" (Kezaya-no-goki-dake).
