キク科シオン属の多年草で、学名は Aster glehnii var. hondoensis。英名はありません。
The "Goma-na" (Aster glehnii var. hondoensis) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed northward from Honshu to Hokkaido in Japan and Sakhalin. This herb grows in sunny montane grasslands and can reach about 1.5 m in height. The stem is much branched at the upper part. The leabes are oblong with coarse toothed edges. The corymbs are borne on the terminal branches and the small flower-heads bloom from September to October. The ray flowers are white and the tubular flowers are yellow, both flowers have pappi. The young shoots are used for boiled vegetable.
