The green rose (Rosa chinensis ssp. viridiflora) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to China. It is a sub-species of "China rose" which was introduced in Japan and has been cultivated as a hedge plant from long ago. This rose is everblooming, small, green, double-flowered variety. The flower lacks petals, having instead many petallike sepals. It is tinged reddish when full bloom.
