オーストラリアの東部、クイーンズランド州からニューサウスウェールズ州に分布しています。海岸沿いの林内に生え、高さは４０メートルほどになります。樹皮は灰色から灰褐色で平滑、薄い板状に剥離します。葉は披針形で、光沢のある濃緑色です。葉腋から散形花序をだし、７〜１１個の白い花を咲かせます。コアラが食べる「ユーカリ」の一種です。

フトモモ科ユーカリ属の常緑高木で、学名は Eucalyptus propinqua。英名は Gray gum、Small-fruited gray gum。

The Gray gum (Eucalyptus propinqua) belongs to Myrtaceae (the Myrtle family). It is a tall evergreen tree that is distributed in the eastern part of Australia, from Queensland to New South Wales. It grows in the forest along the coast and is about 40 m high. The bark is gray to taupe, smooth and peels into a thin plate. The leaves are lanceolate and shiny dark green. The umbel is borne on the axils and blooms 7 to 11 white flowers. It is a kind of "Eucalyptus tree" that koalas eat.
