アメリカのカリフォルニア州、サンフランシスコのベイエリアの固有種です。海岸沿いに生え、高さは３０〜８０センチになります。葉は長楕円形または倒披針形で鋸歯があります。ほとんど周年、黄色い頭花を咲かせます。総苞の直径は１２〜２５ミリ、総苞片の先端はわずかに反り返るかほとんど直線です。

キク科グリンデリア属の多年草で、学名は Grindelia hirsutula var. maritima。英名は San Francisco gumplant、Coastal gumweed。

The San Francisco gumplant (Grindelia hirsutula var. maritim) belongs to the Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to California in the San Francisco Bay Area. This herb grows on seashore and can reach 30-80 cm in height. The leaves are oblong or oblanceolate and serrated. The yellow flower heads bloom in mostly year round. The stems are openly branched. The involucres are 12-25 mm in diameter. The phyllary apices are slightly recurved to nearly straight.
