アメリカのカリフォルニア州からメキシコのバハ・カリフォルニア州に分布しています。高さは６０〜９０センチほどになり、５月から９月ごろ、黄色い花を咲かせます。全草に抗菌性があり、気管の炎症を鎮静したり喘息の症状に効果がある薬用ハーブとして使われます。

The Great valley gumweed (Grindelia robusta) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from California in the United States to Baja California in Mexico. This herb grows in a height of 60-90 cm, and the yellow flowers come in May to September. The whole plant has antibacterial properties and is used as a medicinal herb that is effective in soothing tracheal inflammation and asthma symptoms.
