わが国の固有種で、長野県中北部と岐阜県北東部、群馬県に分布しています。山地の日当たりの良い礫地に生え、高さは５〜１０センチほどになります。茎は長く地上を這い、節から根をおろして広がります。葉は円形から卵円形で対生し、細かい鋸歯があります。７月から８月ごろ、葉腋から花茎を伸ばして、深く４裂した淡い青紫色の花を咲かせます。２個の雄しべが花冠から突きだしています。名前は果実が軍配のかたちをしていることから。別名で「まるばくわがた（丸葉鍬形）」とも呼ばれます。

ゴマノハグサ科クワガタソウ属の多年草で、学名は Veronica onoei。英名はありません。

The "Gunbai-zuru" (Veronica onoei) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Japan and distributed to central-northern Nagano prefecture, north-eastern Gifu prefecture and Gunma prefecture. This herb grows in montane sunny screes and can reach 5-10 cm in height. It spreads by long stems and bear fibrils at the nodes. The leaves are round to ovate-round and opposite with fine toothed edges. The pale bluish-purple flowers bloom on the flowering stalks from July to August. The corolla is divided into four-partites and has exserted two stamens. The fruits look like referee's fan.
