The spider cactus (Gymnocalycium denudatum) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is a globular cactus that is native to South America, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. It is small globular usually unbranched with glossy dark green body and rounded ribs. It grows up to 15 cm in diameter and 10 cm tall. The spines are nearly harmless, flattened against body in shape of small, white spiders. The flowers are large cream white, that are up to 7 cm wide, and bloom in spring and summer. The photos are a cultivar 'Jan Suba'.
