わが国の本州、岩手県以南から四国・九州それに朝鮮半島や中国に分布する「いぶき」の園芸品種です。葉には鱗片葉と針葉の２形があり、ふつうは鱗片葉ですが強剪定のあとなどに針葉がでることがあります。葉色は品種によって青緑色から黄緑色まであります。生け垣や庭木としてよく植栽されていますが、ネズミサシ類はナシ赤星病の中間宿主となるため、「なし（梨）」の産地では条例によって植栽が規制されています。

ヒノキ科ネズミサシ属の常緑高木で、学名は Juniperus chinensis cv. Pyramidalis。英名は Pyramidal chinese juniper。

The Pyramidal chinese juniper (Juniperus chinensis cv. Pyramidalis) belongs to Cupressaceae (the Cypress family). It is a tall evergreen tree that is a cultivar of Chinese juniper. The leaves are of two forms, needle-like leaves and scale-leaves. The needle-like leaves may be produced after severe pruning. This tree has many cultivars having various foliage colors, bluish-green to yellowish-green. It is often planted as a hedge or garden tree, but its planting is regulated by ordinance in pear-growing regions because it is an intermediate host of juniper rust disease.
