The "Kakure-mino" (Dendropanax trifidus) belongs to Araliaceae (the Ginseng family). It is a semi-tall evergreen tree that is disributed from Kanto district of Honshu west to Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan, as well as Orchid Island in Taiwan. This tree grows in coastwise and can reach 3-8 m in height. Leaves are broad ovate, thick and glossy, alternate at end of twigs. During June to July, small yellowish-green flowers that had five petals are seen in the shadow. Fruits are berries and ripen black in the fall. Leaves of seedlings are devided, but leaves are entire when mature. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is "三菱果樹參".
