園芸家のバートラム・アンダーソン（１８８５〜１９７１）が作出したムラサキベンケイソウ属の園芸品種です。１９９６年に英国王立園芸協会のガーデンメリット賞を受賞しています。高さは２０センチほどになり、多数の茎を出して垂れ下がります。葉は扇状円形で紫黒色、多肉質です。７月から９月ごろ、茎頂に複散房花序をだし、小さな淡紅色の花を咲かせます。和名は、葉色が紫黒色となることから。

ベンケイソウ科ムラサキベンケイソウ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Hylotelephium 'Bertram Anderson' (syn. Sedum 'Bertram Anderson')。英名は Stonecrop 'Bertram Anderson'。

The Stonecrop 'Bertram Anderson' (Hylotelephium 'Bertram Anderson') belongs to Crassulaceae (the Orpine family). It is an evergreen herb that is a horticultural variety of the genus Hylotelephium created by horticulturist Bertram E. Anderson (1885-1971), it was awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit in 1996. It grows to a height of about 20 cm, with numerous drooping stems. It produces double corymbs at the top of stems from July to September, and produces small, pale red flowers. The Japanese name "Karasu-misebaya" is derived from the purple-black color of the leaves.
