This herb grows in montane rocky places or wet slopes and it can reach 40-50 cm in height. The leaves are dark green, linear 6-15 mm wide, stiff and textured. They are crowded at the base. The male acrogyrous spikes and female pleurogerous spikes are borne at the stalk apices from April to May. The perigynium is broad ovate.
