中国の湖南省、江西省、河南省それに浙江省などに分布する「まだけ（真竹）」の園芸品種です。桿鞘（タケノコの皮）に、茶褐色の斑紋がほとんどないかごく薄いのが特徴です。わが国の九州の一部でしか栽培されていないそうです。

イネ科マダケ属の常緑タケ類で、学名は Phyllostachys bambusoides cv. Kashirodake。英名はありません。

The "Kashiro-dake" (Phyllostachys bambusoides cv. Kashirodake) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is a cultivated variety of "Giant timber bamboo" which is distributed to Hunan, Jiangxi, Henan and Zhejiang Province in China. It is defined that the culm sheaths have extremely pale brownish-red mottles. It is only planted in the part of Kyushu region in Japan.
