わが国の本州から北海道、南千島に分布しています。山野の湿った草地などに生え、高さは２０〜５０センチになります。葉は線形で幅３〜６ミリ、裏面は粉白色です。５月から６月ごろ、茎頂に４〜６個の小穂をだします。頂小穂は雄性まれに雌雄性、側小穂は雌性です。果胞は卵形です。

カヤツリグサ科スゲ属の多年草で、学名は Carex incisa。英名はありません。

The "Kawara-suge" (Carex incisa) belongs to Cyperaceae (the Sedge family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Honshu and Hokkaido in Japan and southern Kuril Islands. This herb grows in wet grasslands of mountains and fields, and can reach 20-50 cm in height. The reverse sides are powdery white. The 4-6 spikelets are borne on the stem apices from May to June. The acrogyrous spikes are male or rarely ambisexual, and the pleurogerous spikes are female. The perigynium is ovate.
