中央アメリカのグアテマラが原産です。高さは１．８〜２．４メートルほどになります。葉は槍形で、触ると濡れたイヌのような臭いがします。春から夏にかけて、橙黄色の筒状花を咲かせます。花後に白い果実がなります。

ナス科キチョウジ属の常緑低木で、学名は Cestrum aurantiacum。英名は Orange jasmine、Orange cestrum。

The orange jasmine (Cestrum aurantiacum) belongs to Solanaceae (the Nightshade family). It is a small evergreen tree that is native to Guatemala in Central America. This tree can reach 1.8-2.4 m in height. The leaves are lance-shaped and smell like a wet dog when touched. The orange-yellow tubular flowers come in spring to summer. The fruits are ripen white after flowering.
