ヨーロッパに広く分布しています。海岸沿いの崖や岩場、砂丘などにふつうに生え、とくに浅い石灰岩質の土壌を好みます。高さは、15〜60センチですが、茎は地面を這って広がり、細かい羽状複葉をつけます。6月から9月ごろ、茎の先端に、黄色からオレンジ色の花を咲かせます。マメ科なので、空中の窒素を固定します。ロックガーデンにも利用されています。 
マメ科アンティリス属の多年草で、学名は Anthyllis vulneraria。英名は Kidney vetch、Lady's fingers。 
The kidney vetch (Anthyllis vulneraria) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed widely in Europe. This herb grows generally in coastal cliffs, rocks or dunes and can reach 15-60 cm in height. The stems are creeping. The leaves are pinnate compound with small leaflets. The yellow to orange flowers come on the stem apices from June to September. Kidney vetch is used as a rock garden plant.
