わが国の本州、三重県の志摩半島から和歌山県の日ノ御碕までの海岸に分布しています。「しおぎく」の変種で、「いそぎく」と「しおぎく」の中間的な形態をしています。葉は、倒披針形から倒卵形です。１０月から１２月ごろ、茎頂から花柄を伸ばし、直径８ミリほどの黄色い頭花を咲かせます。筒状花だけしかありません。別名で「きのくにしおぎく（紀国潮菊）」とも呼ばれます。

キク科キク属の多年草で、学名は Chrysanthemum shiwogiku var. kinokuniense。英名はありません。

The "Kii-shio-giku" (Chrysanthemum shiwogiku var. kinokuniense) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed on the coast from Shima Peninsula in Mie Prefecture to Hinomisaki in Wakayama Prefecture of Honshu, Japan. This species is a variety of "Shio-giku" and develops intermediate characters of "Iso-giku" and "Shio-giku". The leaves are oblanceolate to obovate. The peduncles are borne on the terminal stems and the yellow flower heads,about 8 mm across, bloom from October to December. The flower heads consist only of disk flowers.
