南アメリカのブラジルからウルグアイに分布しています。柱サボテンで、太さが１０〜２０センチ、高さは１０メートルにもなります。花は大きく白色で、７月から９月ごろ、暑い夜にだけ咲きます。

サボテン科ケレウス属の柱サボテンで、学名は Cereus peruvianus。英名は Peruvian apple。

|
The Peruvian apple (Cereus peruvianus) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is a perennial herb that is native from Brazil to Uruguay. It is a columnar cactus which grows to 10-20 cm across and up to 10 m in height. The large white flowers bloom only in the hot evening from July to September.
