"Kinmei-moso-chiku" (Phyllostachys pubescens var. nabeshimana) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is a variety of "Moso-chiku" which was introduced into Japan from the Jiangnan region of China. The culms are sunny yellow with green vertical stripes. Some bamboo groves are designated as one of Japan's protected species. The Houri-gawa Bamboo Forest in Kitagawa Town, Miyazaki Prefecture, and the Koura Bamboo Forest in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture are designated as national natural monuments. In recent years, it has been found that it grows naturally even in bamboo bush near Sagi Shrine in Kyotanabe City, Kyoto Prefecture.
