地中海沿岸が原産です。金魚に似たかたちの花が穂状に咲きますが、近ごろでは八重咲きやベル咲きなどの変わり品種もでてきています。ふつうは４月から７月にかけて、赤色やオレンジ色、黄色、ピンク色、白色など多彩な花を咲かせます。 写真中４〜６の品種は、ミヨシの「出目金（cv. Demekin）」、 中７は、サントリーフラワーズの「パープルキッス（cv. Purple Kiss）」、 中１６・中１７は、「フローラルシャワー（cv. Floral Shower）」、 中１８・中１９は、「ブラジリアンカーニバル（cv. Brazilian Carnival）」。 |

ゴマノハグサ科キンギョソウ属の多年草で、学名は Antirrhinum majus。英名は Snapdragon。 |

The Snapdragon (Antirrhinum majus) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennialherb that is native to the coastal area of the Mediterranean Sea. Flowers are goldfish-shaped in the long spikes. Varied flower types are breeded such as double flowers or bell-shaped flowers nowadays. Red or orange, yellow,pink, white flowers come from April to July. |
